• Gating message areas

From Dumas Walker@1:103/705 to AMESSYROOM on Fri Feb 6 10:04:55 2026
I'm not sure where the problem is. Here are entries for these sub-boards from area.bbs

    DOVE-GENERAL DOVE-GENERAL 1:3634/58 1:3634/58.1337
    USENET_ALTBBS alt.bbs 1:3634/58 1:3634/58.1337

I think if you change your AREAS.BBS file (areaS is plural!) to something
more like this it might work:

    DOVE-GENERAL DOVE-GENERAL 1:3634/58.1337
    USENET_ALTBBS alt.bbs 1:3634/58.1337

You don't need to list your own aka in there, only your up and/or downlinks.

I've added dovenet sub-boards and I'm getting content, but cannot seem to
    post.

    Also have gotten alt.bbs exported.

But my postings fail. The point software doesn't show problem, but I get a
security violation on the BBS side.

Those messages mean that posts from 1:3634/58 are being rejected. Is 1:3634/58 your address? What are you trying to import messages from your own address?

I thought a source had to be provided (i.e. uplink) before linked node (receiving message).

In this case, you (the node running SBBSecho) doesn't have an uplink.
