I lived and worked in San Francisco and Oakland for many years. I've seen people on the streets committing crimes, harassing people or leremy sleeping and panhandling that belonged in mental care facilities, not jail. In fact, many of them had been in institutions that could no longer afford to keep them.

Because there's no mental health resources available, the cops get the call
- and they're not well equipped to handle them.

Fun part is the woke crowd apropriated the estatement. TBH from the outside it is hard not to think about the whole deal as a way to destabilize the authorities. Specially because the whole movement kind of died when the king was replaced by a new king.

It is kind of sad it was a partisan thing. Coutries would generally benefit from cutting off overreach from authorities.

We should do both, Maybe have a police officer and perhaps a community services worker that
would be there for low end incidents.
Places like Oakland ended up worse when law enforcement got reduced.

with a person that has mental issues and ended up beating him senseless where he died.

Big cities are not fun when you have to deal with people with schizo type issues.
I feel sorry for the bus drivers who have to transport these people at 1am.

If I recall, he was tased multiple times and hit in the face with a flashlight.

Big cities are not fun when you have to deal with people with schizo type issues.
I feel sorry for the bus drivers who have to transport these people at 1am.

I have a friend who drove a bus for SF MUNI for several years. He never ran into any issues, some sktchy situations, but he was never injured.

He did have some interesting stories about driving a bus on Halloween... party bus!
